Studio Policies

Lessons:
  • Violin: Lessons are offered for 30, 45, or 60 minutes.  The length of lessons depends on the age and level of the student, with advisement of the teacher.
  • Music Mind Games: TBA!
Payment:
  • Monthly tuition is based on the length of the student's lesson.  Please contact me for currently monthly tuition rates.
  • Tuition is due at the beginning of each month, at the student's first lesson of the month.  A fee of $5 per week late will apply.  A fee of $30 will apply for any bounced checks.
Materials:
  • Every student needs an instrument (plus a bow) properly sized to them. Please visit a music store and have a professional size you for the proper instrument.  I will then take a look at the fit of the instrument on the student and make final suggestions.  I highly recommend young students start out renting instruments, as they will grow and need new sizes periodically.
**BEWARE of "great deals" on the internet!  Many of these instruments are poorly designed with a bad sound, and will make playing difficult and frustrating for a student.  "Try it before you buy it" is a great policy for instrument-shopping.
  • Students also need the following: instrument case, shoulder rest (sponges with rubber bands are ok for beginners), rosin, and books/CDs as recommended by the teacher.
Attendance:
  • Please be ON TIME for lessons!  Depending on the day, I may have back-to-back lessons, and therefore am unable to extend your student's lesson due to late arrival.
  • If your student has an appointment or other conflict with their scheduled lesson, please let me know at least 24 hours ahead of time and we will try to reschedule that week's lesson.  Otherwise, if I do not have enough notice, we may not be able to reschedule, and that lesson will be forfeited.  In case of family emergency or illness, please contact me as soon as possible.
  • Please remember I have a family too, including little ones!  Arrangements will be made to try to keep lessons interruption-free, but if you can be understanding and flexible with me, I will return the favor!  Thank you!
Parents/family:
  • As a part of the Suzuki Triangle, parents and family are to play an active role in the student's musical education.  A parent/guardian of a young student must attend their lessons, and should pay close attention and take notes throughout in order to better be able to help their student practice throughout the week.
  • Siblings: Siblings are welcome to attend the lesson.  Please keep them within the confines of the lesson area; do not allow them to wander.  I have my own young children, and understand unavoidably difficult situations, but as much as possible, please try to keep them from being a distraction for your student's lesson.
